INGREDIENTS NEEDED FOR MASHED POTATOES
- Yukon gold or Russet potatoes are the best for creamy mashed potatoes
- Water for boiling
- Salt – Add to boiling water
- Unsalted butter
- Sour cream
- Milk
- (optional) Shredded parmesan cheese
STEPS
Cut potatoes into quarters ( same sized pieces ensure they all cook evenly).
Boil potatoes in salted water until tender.
Drain potatoes
Add in the milk, butter, and sour cream.
Mash potatoes until smooth.
OPTIONAL INGREDIENTS TO ADD
Almost anything goes when it comes to ingredients to add to mashed potatoes.

CREAMY MASHED POTATOES
Ingredients
- 1 1.5 pounds potatoes Yukon Gold
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/3 cup butter unsalted
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- salt to taste
- parsley chopped
Instructions
- Cut potatoes into quarters.
- Add water to a large pot and bring to a boil. Place potatoes in pot and add salt. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook until tender (about 20 minutes).
- Drain cooked potatoes. Add butter, milk and sour cream. Mash until smooth
- Add a piece of butter to the top
- Heat 1 tablespoon of the butter in microwave. Pour over mashed potatoes
- Garnish with parsley and serve.
