CASI CIELO: BRINGS OAXACA EATS TO SANDY SPRINGS

Spread the love

A packed vibrant and welcoming restaurant called Casi Cielo brings Oaxaca eats to Metro Atlanta. Casi Cielo is also known as, Casi Cielo Cocina Mexicana. This restaurant is one of the newer additions in the Modera complex, on Roswell Rd in Atlanta, GA.

This upscale restaurant brings the taste of Oaxaca, Mexico to Metro Atlanta. Casi Cielo operates under the same group that operates La Parrilla Mexican Restaurant. Parrilla Mexican Restaurant is delicious so we know Casi Cielo is just as good. Never visiting or dining on food from this region of Mexico, we are excited to explore the Casi Cielo menu.

ATMOSPHERE

The interior of Casi Cielo is beautiful. Each diner upon entry is instantly greeted with warm wood tones combined with a modern space. You feel right at home is this restaurant.

DRINKS & MORE

Cocktails are very fresh. Each is made from scratch, and we sipped on a few drinks. First, the delicious Chilerita Margarita featured Herradura Silver tequila, framboise, chamoy, lime juice, muddled orange, and Valentina rimmed grasshopper salt. The next drink is a non-alcoholic Rice milk. The Rice milk drink is perfectly seasoned and topped off with cinnamon. Both drinks are really yummy.

CHIPS & SALSA

Complimentary chips and salsa is served right after the drinks. Blue chips, made the authentic way is served with green and smoky red salsa. The salsas have a nice kick to them.

Casi Cielo’s menu is divided into four sections called “Momento’s” and we dined on one dish from each section a.k.a. Momento.

FIRST “MOMENTO”

A basket of warm corn tortillas is served with the Burrata Al Josper. This dish resembles Shakshuka. Shakshuka – a middle-eastern dish, made with egg. It is full of really good flavor.

SECOND “MOMENTO”

Tlayuda Garden of Oaxaca is the next dish. Handmade corn tostadas served with red and green sauce. The Tlayuda dish is presented really well, and almost too pretty to eat. Topping this dish is black bean purée, Oaxaca cheese, asiento de credo, cherry tomatoes, jalapeños, avocado, and microgreens.

Traditionally, the Tlayuda Garden of Oaxaca dish, is made much larger in the Oaxaca region in Mexico. It is made to feed large families. However, the smaller size version served here still offers up a delicious combination of flavors. This dish comes in veggie, meat and shrimp options.

THIRD “MOMENTO”

The Tacos de tuétano followed next. Tacos de Tuetano, or bone marrow tacos, is the bestselling item on the menu. Bone marrow tacos is not found very often in America. Casi Cielo offers this beautiful roasted beef bone marrow – lamb with chimichurri and it did not disappoint. It is tender and extremely flavorful.
