How To Make Simple Syrup
Simple syrup is one of the best ingredients to use in cocktails, coffee, teas or any other drink that require a little sweetness. Also called sugar syrup, you will find it in many of your favorite mixed drinks.
The Simple Syrup recipe couldn’t be easier to make and it stores well in the fridge for seven to ten days. Adding herbs to your simple takes cocktails from ordinary to effortless fancy.
Rosemary Simple Syrup
- Add sugar and water in equal parts to a small pot over medium-high heat
- Bring to a boil and simmer until all the sugar is dissolved.
- Drop a few sprigs of rosemary in and let it sit for about 10 minutes.
- Strain rosemary simple syrup into heat proof jar and store in the fridge for up to ten days
How To Make Grapefruit Rosemary Mule
- Make the rosemary simple syrup. Cool in fridge until ready to use.
- In a cocktail shaker or mixer, muddle the lime, rosemary and simple syrup.
- Pour vodka in and fresh grapefruit juice. Stir.
- Fill a copper mug / cup with ice
- Strain into your mixture into mug
- Garnish with grapefruit wedge and rosemary sprig
The rosemary simple syrup is optional, but it does balance the flavor of ginger beer.

Grapefruit Rosemary Mule
Ingredients
- 1/4 oz simple syrup
- 2 oz vodka
- 3 oz freshly squeezed pink grapefruit. That’s about ½ a grapefruit.
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 2 sprigs fresh rosemary
- ginger beer to top
Instructions
- Fill cups with ice
- Add the vodka, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and ginger beer, and stir to combine.
- Garnish with a sprig of fresh rosemary and grapefruit slices. Serve immediately
